how to hide assignments in google classroom

As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, Google Classroom does not provide a direct feature to "hide" assignments. However, you can accomplish a similar effect by marking assignments as "draft" or archiving them. Here are steps you can take:

1. Mark an Assignment as Draft:

  • Open Google Classroom and go to the class where you want to hide the assignment.
  • Find the assignment you want to hide.
  • Click on the three dots (more options) icon next to the assignment.
  • Choose "Draft." This will remove the assignment from the view of students. Draft assignments are not visible to students until you publish them.

2. Archive an Assignment:

  • Similarly, you can archive an assignment to remove it from the main stream.
  • Click on the three dots (more options) icon next to the assignment.
  • Choose "Archive." The archived assignment won't be visible in the main view, but you can access it later if needed.

3. Unarchive or Publish When Ready:

  • If you want to make the assignment visible again, you can unarchive it or publish it.
  • Go to the "Classwork" section in your class.
  • Click on "View more" at the bottom.
  • Find the "Archived" section. Here, you can see all your archived assignments.
  • Click on the three dots next to the assignment and choose "Unarchive" or "Publish."

Important Notes:

  • Archiving or marking an assignment as a draft will not delete it. It simply removes it from the main view.
  • The exact steps and options might be subject to change as Google Classroom is regularly updated. Be sure to check the most recent documentation or help resources provided by Google for the latest information.

Always be mindful of the impact on students when hiding or archiving assignments. Communicate with your students if needed and provide clear instructions on when assignments will be made visible
